Please Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we must strictly limit this Meetup to 25 people. All RSVPs must be done on the LI-DOG Meetup site (link below). Moreover, since we know social distancing will be difficult at this event,  Masks Are Required in accordance with New York State protocol.  Finally, all attendees are required to sign a COVID-19 Agreement confirming you and no one in your family have been diagnosed with COVID or experienced symptoms in the last 30 days.  Thank you for understanding!

Get the LI-DOG COVID-19 Agreement and Sign It NOW.

Get the LI-DOG General Sign In Sheet and Liability Waiver and Sign In NOW.

Does your dog like to swim? Does your dog like to socialize? Would you like to spend a morning with your pup, other dog owners and the great folks of LI-DOG for some OFF-LEASH summer fun?

Then please join us at Mud Creek Off-Leash Beach in East Patchogue on Saturday, July 18th for a couple of hours, letting our furry friends frolic in the sand and surf of the Great South Bay! There’ll be plenty of exercise to be had running along the coastline and in the water as Mud Creek is an off-leash dog beach.

A clean-up of the Mud Creek Off-Leash Beach will start at 8:30 a.m., so if you and your fur baby would like a little extra time in the sun, please join us in getting the area ready for our meetup!

PLEASE NOTE: Mud Creek has no amenities and is considered “carry-in, carry-out” (i.e. no trash receptacles, no poop bag stations, no bathrooms and no water fountains). LI-DOG will have hand sanitizer and poop bags on hand, but please help us make the event a success by remembering to bring these items. Please also remember to bring water for you and your pup and your own towel and beach chairs!

Mud Creek is a natural borders dog park, which means it is not fenced on most sides. For everyone’s safety, please only bring dogs that are well-socialized—used to playing with other dogs off-leash—and that will reliably come when called. Please: NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES.

To access the dog beach, please use the double-gate entry, walk along the fence, then turn right onto the beach as soon as the fence ends. Please keep off-leash dogs out of the area in front of the fence.

Parking is on the street. Please keep dogs on-leash until you get into the off-leash area.

COVID-19 Precautions: We are taking several steps to make sure our guests and volunteers are safe at this event.  Please download the COVID-19 Agreement and our General Sign In Sheet and Liability Waiver NOW, sign both documents, and bring them with you to the beach.  Also, please don’t forget that masks are required in accordance with NYS guidelines. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe!

LI-DOG is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its next LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at beautiful Sands Point Preserve, the 216-acre former estate of the Guggenheim family! Our Pack-Walks – guided group on-leash dog walks – are a great way for both you and your dog to socialize, while enjoying some of Long Island’s most beautiful parks!

Please join us for the LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Sands Point Preserve on Sat., June 16th starting at 10:30 AM. Sands Point Preserve features multiple hiking trails on 200 acres of woods, beautiful lawns, a pond, fields and great views of the Long Island Sound! Please be aware that some of the trails may be a bit steep at times and have roots and rocks.

We’ll meet by the boulders on the big lawn in front of Hempstead House, the former home of the Guggenheim family, where you’ll also get great views of massive Castle Gould, the carriage house and stables. We anticipate that the Pack Walk™ will take a little over an hour, but there will be opportunities to make the walk shorter for those who wish to. Also, this year we have reserved the picnic tables by the boulders on the great lawn – so bring a picnic lunch so you and your pooch can join us as we overlook the beautiful and peaceful Long Island Sound!

PLEASE NOTE: Dogs are not allowed on the beach nor in the houses and must remain leashed AT ALL TIMES! Please do not bring Flexi Leads as we’ll be walking in groups and people and dogs can get tangled. Also, please bring water and poop bags – as clean up is a must.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE: Sands Point is hosting a “Free Family Fun Day” on Saturday from 1 PM until 5 PM. In order to avoid the crowd, we are starting our Pack Walk at 10:30 AM sharp. Please arrive by 10:15, so we can begin our walk promptly. Also, be aware that there will be live music by the Rose Garden starting at 1 PM.  Because of the event, Sands Point will not be charging admission on Saturday!

LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Southards Pond Park

Sat., May 19th, Sun., May 20th 9:30 – 11 AM

Southards Pond Park, 106 Park Ave., Babylon

(Google Map)

The Pack Walk is ON today Sun., May 20th at 9:30 a.m.!

Please join LI-DOG for our first Pack Walk™ at Southards Pond Park in Babylon. The park covers multiple acres of forested beauty, its full of friendly people and their four legged companions, and the trails are flat and easy.

Our May 2018 LI-DOG Pack Walk™ —a guided group on-leash dog walk–will start out at the south end of the Southards Pond Park Loop trail, head north and then cut west across the southern end of Southards Pond, then head north again along the western edge of the park. At a lovely bridge about 2 miles into the walk, we’ll cross a small stream and continue north until we reach another nice pond that we like to call Oakley’s Pond. You’ll see why on our Pack Walk™! Then, we’ll turn around and head back to the beginning of the trail, which is across another small bridge.

This Pack Walk™ will take one to 1-1/2 hours, but since it’s an out-and-back trail, anyone who wishes to cut the walk short can simply turn around and go back the way we came.

Feel free to linger after the Pack Walk™ as there are plenty of nice places in the park to hang out with your dog and other people from the walk.

The park is nestled between two neighborhoods so be considerate of the residents by minimizing the noise level and keeping the area clean. There are no trash receptacles along the walk, but there are one or two on the bridge by the pond.

Dogs must be kept on-leash while in the park. Also, please no retractable leashes as we’ll be walking in a group and people and dogs can get tangled.

Please RSVP only on the LI-DOG Meetup Group or by email at lidog_news@yahoo.com as there is a limit on the number of people and dogs we can accommodate on this trail.

Weather-Related Changes: Please check our Meetup or Facebook Group or our website on the day of the Pack Walk around 8:30 a.m. for any weather-related notices. If there is no notice, the Pack Walk™ is on!

Park at the tennis courts on the north side of Park Ave., which is where the trail starts. If this lot is full, park at the Babylon Grade School which is a little further west.

We look forward to seeing you and your dogs at LI-DOG’s first Pack Walk™ at Southards Pond Park!

Massapequa Preserve, 85 Walker St. Entrance

Massapequa, NY 11762 (Google Map)

Would you like to take your dog for a nice, easy walk through the woods on a summer morning? Want to meet other dog owners and their dogs, too? Then, join us for our LI-DOG Pack WalkTM at Massapequa Preserve on Sat., Aug. 19th at 10 o’clock n the morning! LI-DOG Pack Walks are guided group on-leash dog walks in beautiful parks around Long Island.

On our Aug. 19th LI-DOG Pack Walk™, we’ll be walking the Fire Road Trail, a wide, flat dirt trail within Massapequa Preserve. The trail is about a mile and a half long and ends at a clearing with a shallow pond where we’ll stop for water and photos. Some dog owners bring their dogs to swim in the pond. Once we’ve rested, we’ll head back up the trail to where we started.

Please note: while there may be occasional off-leash dogs on the trail, dogs must be kept on leash on the LI-DOG Pack WalkTM. Please don’t forget to bring poop bags as pick up is a must and while the trail is well-shaded by trees, don’t forget to bring water for you and your pup. Please NO retractable leashes as we are walking in a group and dogs can get tangled,

The Fire Road Trail within Massapequa Preserve opened to on-leash dogs in early 2015 in response to LI-DOG’s campaign to get more access to Nassau County parks. Please help us protect access to the preserve by keeping dogs on-leash and off the bike path.

Meet us on the dirt path near the north end of the parking lot for Mansfield Park at the 85 Walker St. Entrance. Watch out for bikes as you cross the asphalt bike path to the dirt path!
