09/26/2020 – Pet Partners World’s Largest Pet Walk

Pet Partners World’s Largest Pet Walk

A Virtual Event

Saturday, September 26th, Any Time – Any Location

On September 26th, Pet Partners will be holding the World’s Largest Pet Walk. It is their signature fundraiser, and is open to everyone who wants to enjoy the health benefits of being active with their pets, while also supporting Pet Partners!

Join the walk! Since this is a “virtual event”, you and your pets are invited to walk at any time and location on Saturday, September 26th. Walk whatever distance and path that feels right for you and your animal.

Pet Partners is the national leader in demonstrating and promoting the health and wellness benefits of animal-assisted interventions. Their teams visit with patients in recovery, people with intellectual disabilities, seniors living with Alzheimer’s, students, veterans with PTDS and those approaching end of life–improving human health and well-being through the human-animal bond. They are considered the “gold standard” in the world because of their ongoing testing and retesting of the owner and the dog every two years.

While most people will be walking on September 26th, if this day does not work for you, pick any day in September that would work best for you and your furry friend.

There is no registration fee to walk, but please invite supporters to donate in honor of your participation using your online fundraising page. Raise at least $50 to receive a special pet bandanna! Raise $100 or more to receive the bandanna plus a commemorative event T-shirt! And super fundraisers who raise $250 or more receive all of these items, plus a Pet Partners leash.

For more information, including how to promote your walk, have a safe event, and make the most out of your fundraising, and to register for this great event, please visit World’s Largest Pet Walk.

The LI chapter of Pet Partners is located in Lake Grove, NY. To learn more about them, visit the Pet Partners Community Partner and Chapter Directory.

How does a nice walk along a mostly shaded path in the woods with friendly dogs and people on a Saturday morning sound? If it sounds good, please join us for the LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Massapequa Preserve on Sat., Aug. 15th at 10 o’clock in the morning!

On our Aug. 15th Pack Walk™ — a guided, group on-leash dog walk –we’ll be walking the Fire Road Trail, a flat, wide dirt trail within Massapequa Preserve. We’ll walk about a mile down the trail, then turn onto a smaller trail that ends at a clearing with a creek and shallow pond. We’ll stop there for water and let the dogs swim and wade in the shallow pond.  Once we’ve rested, we’ll head back down the trail to where we started. The entire walk will be about 2 miles and take about 2 hours.

PLEASE NOTE: While there may be off-leash dogs on the trail, dogs must be kept on leash on the LI-DOG Pack Walk™. Please don’t forget to bring poop bags as pick up is a must, and while the trail is shaded by trees, don’t forget to bring water for you and your pup.

Please NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES as we are walking in a group and the dogs and their humans can get tangled.

HOW TO FIND US: Meet us near the paved bridge at the north end of the Mansfield Park parking lot at the Walker St. Entrance. Watch out for bikes as you cross the asphalt bike path to the dirt path!

COVID-19 Precautions:  Please download the LI-DOG COVID-19 Agreement and our General Sign In Sheet and Liability Waiver  BEFORE the Pack Walk™, sign both documents, and bring them with you to the Pack Walk. The fewer people we have standing around signing documents, the better!

RSVP (All RSVPs must be done on the LI-DOG Meetup Group)

Does your dog like to swim? Does your dog like to socialize? Would you like to spend a morning with your pup, other dog owners and the great folks of LI-DOG for some OFF-LEASH summer fun?

Then please join us at Mud Creek Off-Leash Beach in East Patchogue on Saturday, July 18th for a couple of hours, letting our furry friends frolic in the sand and surf of the Great South Bay! There’ll be plenty of exercise to be had running along the coastline and in the water as Mud Creek is an off-leash dog beach.

A clean-up of the Mud Creek Off-Leash Beach will start at 8:30 a.m., so if you and your fur baby would like a little extra time in the sun, please join us in getting the area ready for our meetup!

PLEASE NOTE: Mud Creek has no amenities and is considered “carry-in, carry-out” (i.e. no trash receptacles, no poop bag stations, no bathrooms and no water fountains). LI-DOG will have hand sanitizer and poop bags on hand, but please help us make the event a success by remembering to bring these items. Please also remember to bring water for you and your pup and your own towel and beach chairs!

Mud Creek is a natural borders dog park, which means it is not fenced on most sides. For everyone’s safety, please only bring dogs that are well-socialized—used to playing with other dogs off-leash—and that will reliably come when called. Please: NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES.

To access the dog beach, please use the double-gate entry, walk along the fence, then turn right onto the beach as soon as the fence ends. Please keep off-leash dogs out of the area in front of the fence.

Parking is on the street. Please keep dogs on-leash until you get into the off-leash area.

COVID-19 Precautions: We are taking several steps to make sure our guests and volunteers are safe at this event.  Please download the COVID-19 Agreement and our General Sign In Sheet and Liability Waiver NOW, sign both documents, and bring them with you to the beach.  Also, please don’t forget that masks are required in accordance with NYS guidelines. LI-DOG is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its next LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at beautiful Sands Point Preserve, the 216-acre former estate of the Guggenheim family! Our Pack-Walks – guided group on-leash dog walks – are a great way for both you and your dog to socialize, while enjoying some of Long Island’s most beautiful parks!

Please join us for the LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Sands Point Preserve on Sat., June 16th starting at 10:30 AM. Sands Point Preserve features multiple hiking trails on 200 acres of woods, beautiful lawns, a pond, fields and great views of the Long Island Sound! Please be aware that some of the trails may be a bit steep at times and have roots and rocks.

We’ll meet by the boulders on the big lawn in front of Hempstead House, the former home of the Guggenheim family, where you’ll also get great views of massive Castle Gould, the carriage house and stables. We anticipate that the Pack Walk™ will take a little over an hour, but there will be opportunities to make the walk shorter for those who wish to. Also, this year we have reserved the picnic tables by the boulders on the great lawn – so bring a picnic lunch so you and your pooch can join us as we overlook the beautiful and peaceful Long Island Sound!

PLEASE NOTE: Dogs are not allowed on the beach nor in the houses and must remain leashed AT ALL TIMES! Please do not bring Flexi Leads as we’ll be walking in groups and people and dogs can get tangled. Also, please bring water and poop bags – as clean up is a must.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE: Sands Point is hosting a “Free Family Fun Day” on Saturday from 1 PM until 5 PM. In order to avoid the crowd, we are starting our Pack Walk at 10:30 AM sharp. Please arrive by 10:15, so we can begin our walk promptly. Also, be aware that there will be live music by the Rose Garden starting at 1 PM.  Because of the event, Sands Point will not be charging admission on Saturday!
