Our May LI-DOG Pack Walk™ will take approximately an hour as we leisurely walk the wooded trails and path around the lake. The trails are flat and should be an easy walk for most people and dogs. The full walk will cover approximately 1.5 miles. A shorter opt-out path will cut the walk to about a mile, or you can lengthen the walk by going under the underpass and walking toward Southards Pond Park. Feel free to hang out after the walk and enjoy the new Belmont Lake State Park Dog Run, which was opened last year and features a new bench donated by LI-DOG! Make a day of it as Belmont Lake State Park has a lot to offer.

LI-DOG is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its next LI-DOG Pack WalkTM at Sands Point Preserve, the beautiful 216-acre former estate of the Guggenheim family. Our Pack Walks–guided, group on-leash dog walks–are a great way for both you and your dog to socialize, while enjoying some of Long Island’s most beautiful parks!

Please join us for LI-DOG’s Pack Walk™ at Sands Point Preserve May 2017 on Sun., May 21st starting at Noon. Sands Point Preserve features multiple hiking trails on 200 acres of woodland, beautiful lawns, a pond, fields, and great views of the Long Island Sound. Please be aware that some of the trails may be a bit steep at times and have roots and rocks.  We anticipate the Pack WalkTM will take about an hour, but there will be opportunities to make the walk shorter for those who wish to do so. We’ll meet on the big lawn in front of Hempstead House, the former home of the Guggenheim family, where you’ll also get great views of massive Castlegould, the family’s carriage house and stables.

Please note: dogs are not allowed on the beach and must remain leashed at all times. Please do not bring Flexi Leads as we’ll be walking in groups and people and dogs can get tangled. Also, please bring water and poop bags—as clean up is a must.

Admission: Sands Point charges $10 per car or $4 per “walk-in” unless you have their annual pass. This fee helps preserve this wonderful piece of Long Island history. For more info about Sands Point, go to the Friends of Sands Point Preserve website.

Please arrive by 11:45 a.m., so we can begin the walk at  Noon.
