LI-DOG Jan. 2017 Meeting

Join us for the LI-DOG January 2017 Meeting as we map out our agenda for 2017 in our continued quest to make Long Island more dog-friendly!

There is no doubt that winter is upon us and now is the time for us to get our plans in gear so that our dogs can enjoy the outdoors. But, it’s “snow” fun when our pooches are not welcome to join us at so many of Long Island’s parks and beaches.  We’ve made great strides in this department, but we’re not done yet!

At LI-DOG, our mission is to continue to expand dog owner access to public parkland. In addition to helping to create dog parks, LI-DOG also strives for more ON-LEASH access to public trails and parks as well as off-leash access to Long Island’s many miles of public beaches.

Learn about our campaign to get access to beaches in Nassau and Suffolk counties and our goal to get more access to Hempstead, Huntington and other Town parks. We’ll also discuss plans for a possible Valentine’s or St. Patrick’s Day-themed dog event plus our upcoming Events Committee meeting.

AND… we are looking for volunteers to join our new LI-DOG DIGITAL MEDIA TEAM.

Find out about all our campaigns and events plus opportunities to volunteer for LI-DOG by joining us next week at the LI-DOG Jan. 2017 Meeting!

Join us for the LI-DOG November 2016 Meeting as we recap our 2016 successes and make our plans for the upcoming year in an effort to make Long Island more Dog Friendly.

One of the most endearing sights of winter is seeing a dog frolicking in the snow. As the cold months near, we face the annual search for that perfect spot, but as we Long Islanders know all too well that search can often be elusive. If you’re sick and tired of being turned away and seeing those ever-present “NO DOGS ALLOWED”! signs, then you need to join us at our next meeting to hear about how you can help to change that.

At LI-DOG, our mission is to continue to expand dog owner access to public parkland.  In addition to helping to create dog parks, LI-DOG also strives for more ON-LEASH access to public trails and parks as well as off-leash access to Long Island’s many miles of public beaches.

Find out the latest about our newest campaigns to get small dog areas created at Nickerson Beach and Christopher Morley dog parks, our effort to get on-leash access to Hempstead parks and our ongoing goal to get access to beaches in Nassau County and elsewhere on Long Island.

In addition, we’ll discuss our final Pack Walk of the season at Sands Point Preserve this coming weekend on Sunday, November 20.

Please come and join us on November 17th to join the effort, see what interests you and find out how you can help to make it all happen!

The cooler weather lends itself to lots of walks and outdoor activities with your fur pals.  But, as most Long Islanders know, it’s sometimes very hard to find a place where both you and your dog are welcome. If you’re sick and tired of being turned away and seeing those ever-present “NO DOGS ALLOWED” signs, then join us at the LI-DOG October Meeting to hear how you can help change that!

At LI-DOG, our mission is to continue to expand dog owner access to public parkland.  In addition to helping to create dog parks, LI-DOG also strives for more ON-LEASH access to public trails and parks as well as off-leash access to Long Island’s many miles of public beaches.

Plus, learn about the reason behind the recent closure of the West Hills Dog Park.

In addition, we’ll discuss our busy schedule for upcoming Fall events such as Nassau Barkfest at Eisenhower Park on Oct. 29th; the Fall Dog Festival at Old Westbury Gardens on Oct. 30th that will feature one of our popular Pack Walks; the Selden Dog Park Fall Festival on Oct. 22nd and well as the Viewpoint Photography Holiday Pooch Shoot, which you absolutely won’t want to miss in November!

Please come on Oct. 20th to join the effort, see what interests you and find out how you can help make it all happen!

LI-DOG Sept. Meeting: Gearing Up to Make LI More Dog- Friendly

Thurs., Sept. 22nd, 7 – 9 PM

Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library

999 Old Country Rd., Plainview (Google Map)

Summer may have come to an end but with that LI-DOG is shifting into high gear as we move into the cooler months that scream (or should we say “bark”) for more outdoor activity with our furry best friends.  We have many campaigns well under way and some new ones, too, in addition to events and activities on the Fall agenda for Long Island dog owners and their fur kids.

If you’re tired of seeing those annoying “NO DOGS ALLOWED” signs, then please join us at our Sept. meeting to hear about how you can help to change that!

At LI-DOG, our mission is to continue to expand dog owner access to public parkland.  In addition to helping to create dog parks, LI-DOG also strives for more ON-LEASH access to public trails and parks as well as off-leash access to Long Island’s many miles of public beaches.

Join us as we discuss the grand opening of the new Newbridge Road Dog Park, our efforts to get small dog runs created at Nickerson Beach and Christopher Morley Dog Parks as well as the latest on Nassau County’s on-leash dog walking trails plus access to more parks in Huntington.  In addition, we’ll outline plans for our final three, very popular Pack Walks of the season plus upcoming October events including an LI-DOG brunch (with dogs) at The Refuge in Melville along with Barkfest and Dog Days at Old Westbury Gardens! (That’s Bailey in the photo above at last fall’s Dog Days at Old Westbury Gardens, which is coming up again soon!)

Please join us September 22nd and find out what interests you and how you can help to make it happen!

LI-DOG July Meeting: Gearing Up for the Dog Days Ahead!

Thurs., July 21st, 7 to 9 PM

Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library

999 Old Country Rd., Plainview, NY (Google Map)

Summer means being outside to enjoy fun activities with your pup and LI-DOG is gearing up for the dog days ahead! Join us for the LI-DOG JULY MEETING: Gearing Up for the Dog Days Ahead to find out more about our plans to make Long Island more dog friendly and how YOU can help in that quest!

We LOVE Summer – warm days, more daylight, sultry evening walks, splashing in the pool and running on the beach. The only thing wrong with all of this is that most of the time, our fur kids are not welcome.  Why not and what can you do about it?  Find out how you can help to change Long Island’s long-outdated laws and restrictions that ban dogs and also hear about our recent successes like on-leash access to Nassau County parks! We’re making progress but we still need YOUR help to work on new initiatives and to volunteer at our events–all with the mission of making Long Island a more dog friendly place.

At LI-DOG, our mission is to continue to expand dog owner access to public parkland and beaches.  In addition to helping to create dog parks, LI-DOG also strives for more ON-LEASH access to public parks as well as off-leash access to Long Island’s many miles of public beaches. We also plan dog-friendly events such as our “Bark in the Park Night” with the Long Island Ducks in September and, of course, our hugely popular Pack Walks.

Please join us on July 21st and find out what interests you and how you can help to make it happen!
