COME SEE DOGS FLY!

Saturday, July 23rd – 9 AM to 5 PM

Sunday, July 24th – 10 AM to 4 PM

Joe Erland Baseball Field, Caroline Avenue

Port Jefferson Village

LI-DOG will be there! Bring the whole family including your dog!

For the first time ever, the Village of Port Jefferson will be featuring the high flying action of DockDogs®, the independent governing and sanctioning body for dock jumping and dock diving canine performance sports. Examples of the thrilling aquatic events include:

  • The Big Air® competition features dogs running down a 40’ dock and diving into a pool of water after an object, in which they are electronically judged for the length of their jump.
  • The Extreme Vertical® competition is a “High Jump” for the dogs as they each lunge to snag a “bumper” suspended in the air.

The competition is open to all pre-registered teams. Teams are made up of one dog and one handler. Your canine must be 6 months or older to be eligible. Canines of any breed, size or shape are welcomed. Not only is the competition open to all types of canines, but also handlers above the age of 7 are welcomed. They even have a Youth Handler class for those who are between the ages of 7-14.

You must pre-register dogs to compete at DockDogs® Port Paws Dog Festival in Port Jefferson.

In addition to watching the competition, you’ll also find: Canine Vendors, Food Trucks, Fun activities, Music and more!

The Long Island Dog Owners Group will also have a booth set up at the event, so be sure to stop by for information and to say hello!

General admission: $10 per adult. Kids and canines are free!

Proceeds from “Port Paws” Dog Festival will benefit the Port Jefferson Harbor Education & Arts Conservancy.

The 2019 Dog Festival and Show at the Planting Fields Arboretum is an opportunity to enjoy a 3-day weekend of family friendly activities in a beautiful setting. In addition to watching hundreds of dogs compete in a variety of dog sports, visitors and their dogs can get in on the action at AKC’s My Dog Can Do That, where participants can try out agility and obstacle courses or test their water skills at Dock Diving in a 25,000-gallon tank!

You can also do some shopping for the perfect present for your dog or a dog lover in your life, peruse a flea market, and join a “Nautical Long Island” themed dog costume contest on Sunday. With raffles and food for sale, face painting for the kids, and canine activities, this event is great for the whole family! Bring a lawn chair and your dog and be ready to have some fun!

The Arboretum itself is lovely in the spring and well worth the visit! Check out the Planting Fields website for more information about this Long Island treasure! The $20.00 admission fee per car includes the $8.00 admission to the Arboretum.
