LI-DOG Pack WalkTM at Christopher Morley Park
Sun., June 26th, 11 a.m.
Christopher Morley County Park
500 Searingtown Rd., Roslyn, NY 11576 (Google Map)
Come join us on June 26th for our first-ever LI-DOG Pack WalkTM at Christopher Morley Park in North Hills. Located just one block north of Exit 36/Searingtown Road off the Long Island Expressway, Christopher Morley is one of the four new Nassau County parks that now allow leashed dogs on trails. (See Nassau County Opens Four New Parks to Leashed Dogs)
You and your four-legged baby will enjoy a wonderful trek through the woods with us. The path, which starts near the Christopher Morley Dog Run (one of the first dog runs in Nassau County), is mostly paved and mostly flat ground after you navigate a small hill at the beginning. The trees keep the trail nice and cool on a hot summer day and the serenity makes you forget you’re in the middle of Long Island!
Please be aware that there are no garbage cans on the trail yet, so you’ll have to carry any poop bags you collect on the approximately one-mile loop to the trash receptacles near the dog run. The dog run and trail head are located near author Christopher Morley’s “Knothole” studio, which contains a unique one-piece, pre-assembled “dymaxion” bathroom, designed in 1936 by Morley’s friend Buckminster Fuller, the renowned scientist and inventor.
This beautiful 98-acre park also includes playgrounds, baseball fields, and pools. Please be aware that leashed dogs are only allowed on the trails in the northern, wooded section of the park. They are not allowed elsewhere in the park, except in the dog run.
Also please note: As a Nassau County Park, there is a $10 parking fee on summer weekends for non-county residents.
