Long Island Cares’ 2nd Annual PawsWalk is a wonderful event helping to support the work of Long Island Cares whose mission is to bring together all available resources for the benefit of the hungry and food insecure on Long Island. The Harry Chapin Food Bank has been on a mission to feed Long Island’s food insecure and put an end to the root causes of hunger. This walk will benefit Baxter’s Pet Pantry in Lindenhurst.
Long Island Cares knows that families facing food insecurity often struggle to provide for their beloved pets. That’s why they established Baxter’s Pet Pantry to ensure that all members of the family have enough to eat.
There is a $20 registration fee (per participant).
During the sign-in you can grab a light breakfast and be ready for walking and wagging at 9 a.m. Your pet is welcome.
To help even more, bring a non-perishable pet food item and get entered into a raffle for a wonderful basket of pet goodies.

The dog run at Belmont Lake State Park in Babylon has a new amenity–a bench donated by LI-DOG. LI-DOG made the donation, a first for the organization, through New York State’s Natural Heritage Trust, which allows individuals and organizations to donate to programs and projects that benefit NYS parks. The installation of the new bench was celebrated by dogs and their people at LI-DOG’s Pack Walk™ at Belmont Lake SP in May 2022. On the bench is a plaque that reads: For all the happy dogs and their people. Enjoy! LI-DOG. The dog run, which opened in June 2021, is located within dog-friendly Belmont Lake State Park in Babylon and features separate small dog and large dog areas, water fountains, waste bag dispensers and trash cans.

Please join us for our May LI-DOG Pack Walk™ on Saturday May 21st at 10:30 a.m. at Belmont Lake State Park! This is not only a great way for your dog to socialize and get exercise, but for you as well. So please join us at this beautiful NY State Park!
Our May LI-DOG Pack Walk™ will take approximately an hour as we leisurely walk the wooded trails and path around the lake. The trails are flat and should be an easy walk for most people and dogs. The full walk will cover approximately 1.5 miles. A shorter opt-out path will cut the walk to about a mile, or you can lengthen the walk by going under the underpass and walking toward Southards Pond Park. Feel free to hang out after the walk and enjoy the new Belmont Lake State Park Dog Run, which was opened last year and features a new bench donated by LI-DOG! Make a day of it as Belmont Lake State Park has a lot to offer.
BASIC RULES:
• Dogs must remain on-leash at all times – No Exceptions!
• No flexi-leashes; we are walking in a large group – dogs and people tend to get tangled.
• Dogs are not allowed in the picnic & play areas nor in any buildings.
• Bring water & poop bags to pick up after your companion!
• As space is limited to 50 people, please keep your RSVP on Meetup up-to- date.
PHOTO’S – There are many great photo-ops, so bring your camera and share your photos on our Meetup and Facebook groups!
PARKING – The NYS parking fee of $8 will be collected at the entrance booth.

LI-DOG is pleased to announce it will be hosting its first Pack Walk™ of 2017 on Sunday March 26 – 12 Noon at Belmont Lake State Park, Exit 38N off the Southern State Pkwy. (Please note: This is a new date due to a weather-related rescheduling change.) This is not only a great way for your dog to socialize and get exercise, but for you as well! So please join us at this beautiful NY State Park.
This LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Belmont Lake State Park will take approximately an hour as we leisurely walk the wooded trails and around the lake. Feel free to hang out after the walk and make a day of it as Belmont Lake State Park has a lot to offer.
