How to find us: Look for LI-DOG’s Blue Tent!

Crisp fall air, pumpkin spice, apple cider, and Halloween costumes—celebrate all the fun of autumn with your best furry friend during Dog Days at Old Westbury Gardens, on Sat. and Sun., Oct. 29th and 30th! Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the grounds, except for the Walled Garden, during this special dog-friendly weekend.

On Sunday, Oct. 30th, please join LI-DOG for an LI-DOG Pack Walk™—a group on-leash dog walk—as you and your dog explore the woodland trails, lakeside grounds, and beautiful lawns of this magnificent 200-acre estate. Our Pack Walk at OWG will take about 45 minutes and is almost all on flat ground. There are opportunities to shorten the walk as well.

Please be at our table by 10:30 a.m. to sign in for the Pack Walk.

Registrants for our Pack Walk will have the opportunity to donate $5 or $10 to LI-DOG for a chance to win our raffle. Proceeds from the raffle support LI-DOG’s work to open local parks and beaches to our four-legged family members.

Please make sure to bring poop bags–as clean-up is a must!–and bring your camera as there are many beautiful photo opportunities on the grounds.

Once again, Old Westbury Gardens is inviting doggie vendors, rescue groups, and animal advocacy organizations like LI-DOG to set up booths that weekend. LI-DOG will set up on Sunday, the 30th. Also, on Sunday there’ll be a big costume contest and parade, with prizes, starting at 3 p.m. (You must register at the map stand by 2:30 pm to join the parade).

While visiting the gardens, dogs must be on-leash at all times, please no RETRACTABLE leashes, and they are not allowed in any buildings on the grounds. Please also keep them from walking on the flowers.

Tickets to gain admission to Old Westbury Gardens must be purchased IN ADVANCE from the Old Westbury Gardens website. No tickets will be sold at the admissions booth. Tickets are good from arrival time until closing time.

OWG Members do not need to buy advance tickets. They need to simply present their valid membership card to the admissions staff.

OWG admission fees are $14 for adults; $12 for seniors (62 and over) and students with valid ID, and $8 for children ages 7-17. OWG members, children 6 and under, and four-legged visitors are FREE.

Does your dog like to walk in the woods, play in the water, and see their dog-friends or make new ones? If the answer is yes, then join us for our LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Massapequa Preserve on Sat., Aug. 20th at 10 in the morning!

We’ll be walking the Fire Road Trail, a flat, wide, mostly shaded, dirt trail within Massapequa Preserve. We’ll walk about a mile down the trail, then turn onto a smaller trail that ends at a clearing with a creek and shallow pond. We’ll stop there for water and let the dogs swim and wade in the creek. Once the dogs have played and cooled off, we’ll head back up the trail to where we started. The entire walk will cover about 2 miles and take about 2 hours, including their “playtime”.

PLEASE NOTE: While there may be off-leash dogs on the trail, dogs attending the pack walk must be kept on-leash on the trail. Please be aware that some people may take their dogs off-leash when they are playing in the water.

Also please NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES as we are walking in a group and the dogs and their humans can get tangled.

Please don’t forget to bring poop bags as pick up is a must, and while the trail is shaded by trees, don’t forget to bring water for you and your pup.
