Community Dog Park Coalition Launches in Patchogue
LI-DOG Joins Effort to Create State-of-the-Art Dog Park!
LI-DOG is excited to announce that it is participating in the newly formed Community Dog Park Coalition in the Village of Patchogue, a collaborative initiative focused on creating a state-of-the-art dog park for local residents, visitors, and their canine companions.
The coalition’s mission is to develop a welcoming, off-leash recreational space that enhances the Village of Patchogue community through a blend of arts, wellness, and volunteerism.
The coalition’s leaders envision the proposed dog park as more than just a place for pets to exercise. The project is designed as a vibrant public destination where neighbors can connect, local artists can showcase their work, and community wellness programs can take shape.
“We’re excited to bring together people and pups in a setting that encourages creativity, health, and civic involvement,” said Daniela Serralles, coalition founder and owner of Who Lets Your Dog Out, a local dog walking and pet care business.
The preliminary vision for the park includes a range of thoughtfully designed features aimed at safety, accessibility, and community engagement. Plans include separate fenced areas for small and large dogs, as well as a dedicated “One-on-One Zone” designed for dogs who benefit from a calmer, low-stimulation environment.
To promote safety and accountability, access to the park would be managed through a secure entry system. Entry would be limited to approved members who provide registration documentation and proof of vaccinations.
Additional amenities under consideration include water stations and shaded areas throughout the park to ensure comfort for both dogs and their owners. The coalition is also exploring opportunities to incorporate public art displays on fencing and signage, further integrating the park into Patchogue’s creative community.
A strong emphasis is being placed on volunteerism and community involvement. The project aims to create opportunities for students, seniors, and local residents to participate in landscaping efforts, organize animal welfare events, and contribute to the ongoing care and programming of the park.
The coalition is also considering the potential for hosting dog sport competitions and demonstrations, which could attract visitors and contribute to the local economy.
Community support will play a critical role in advancing the project. A public petition has been launched through the Patchogue Community Dog Park Facebook page to demonstrate interest and support for the initiative. The petition will help communicate to local officials that there is meaningful demand for a high-quality, community-centered dog park in Patchogue.
