LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Massapequa Preserve!

How to find us: Enter the Preserve at the Walker Street entrance. Meet us on the grass just before the paved bridge at the north end of the Mansfield Park parking lot. Watch out for bikes on the bridge and avoid standing on the bike path!
Bring your active dogs for an invigorating morning walk in the woods and then a refreshing dip in a cool, shallow pond before we head back up the trail.
Please join the Long Island Dog Owners Group (LI-DOG) for our August LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Massapequa Preserve on Sat., August 23rd starting at 10:30 a.m.!
On our August Pack WalkTM, we’ll be walking the Fire Road Trail, a flat, wide, mostly shaded, dirt trail within Massapequa Preserve. We’ll walk about a mile down the trail, then turn onto a smaller trail that ends at a clearing with a creek and shallow pond. We’ll stop there for water and let the dogs wade and swim.
Once the dogs have played and cooled off, we’ll head back up the trail to where we started. The entire walk will cover approximately 2 miles and take about 2 hours, including their “playtime”.
PLEASE NOTE: While there may be off-leash dogs on the trail, dogs attending the LI-DOG Pack WalkTM must be kept on-leash on the trail. Please be aware that some people may take their dogs off-leash when they are playing in the water.
Please NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES as we are walking in a group and the dogs and their humans can get tangled.
Please don’t forget to bring poop bags, as pick up is a must, and while the trail is shaded by trees, don’t forget to bring water for you and your pup.
