Does your dog like to walk in the woods, play in the water, and see their dog-friends or make new ones? If the answer is yes, then join us for our LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Massapequa Preserve on Sat., Aug. 20th at 10 in the morning!

We’ll be walking the Fire Road Trail, a flat, wide, mostly shaded, dirt trail within Massapequa Preserve. We’ll walk about a mile down the trail, then turn onto a smaller trail that ends at a clearing with a creek and shallow pond. We’ll stop there for water and let the dogs swim and wade in the creek. Once the dogs have played and cooled off, we’ll head back up the trail to where we started. The entire walk will cover about 2 miles and take about 2 hours, including their “playtime”.

PLEASE NOTE: While there may be off-leash dogs on the trail, dogs attending the pack walk must be kept on-leash on the trail. Please be aware that some people may take their dogs off-leash when they are playing in the water.

Also please NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES as we are walking in a group and the dogs and their humans can get tangled.

Please don’t forget to bring poop bags as pick up is a must, and while the trail is shaded by trees, don’t forget to bring water for you and your pup.

How does the idea of a vacation (yes, real time away!) with your best canine companion in a lovely setting with lots of outdoor, totally dog-friendly, and fun activities sound? If you’re ready, check out Canine Camp Getaway!

Take your pick of two very special settings–scenic Gettysburg, PA. in June, or the beautiful, rustic Catskill Mountains of NY in Sept. Stay as busy as you like with dog-centered classes, DOGA (yes, yoga with your dog), swimming, hiking, agility, indoor and outdoor dining, and nightly entertainment. Or simply relax–in Gettysburg with a private, man-made lake for the dogs or in a dog-friendly pool in the Catskills.

Canine Camp Getaway is a one-of-a-kind vacation geared to dog lovers and their dogs. Both facilities are totally dog-friendly—dining and Yappy Hours with your dog, and days filled with activities you can share with your pup including hiking, agility, swimming, Frisbee, lure coursing, rally, Bingo, and costume contests!

In addition, there are classes on lots of topics including Canine CPR, Ask the Vet/Ask the Trainer, and more! The venues, while different, are people friendly too; Gettysburg has a few more amenities, while East Durham emphasizes an unplugged, laid-back feel.

Rates range from $975 (meals and activities only) to $1,575 per person in Gettysburg and $825 (meals and activities only) to $1,225 per person in East Durham, depending on occupancy. Full rates include meals, accommodations, and all dog activities.

More info: Visit Canine Camp Getaway on the web or call 877-K9-CAMPG (877-592-2674).

Please note: Canine Camp Getaway of NY will donate $25 to LI-DOG for every guest we refer! Moreover, LI-DOG supporters receive a $25 discount on their stay. Just mention LI-DOG when you make your reservation!
