There will be a costume parade, raffles, treats, demonstrations by the K9 Unit, and the unveiling of a memorial bench in honor of K9 Officer Ace donated by ShopRite of Selden. In honor of Suffolk County K9 officer Ace who recently passed away, the Gallagher family of ShopRite in Selden is donating a bench to the Selden Dog Park during the Doggy Fall Festival! Following the unveiling, the K9 unit will conduct a demonstration of their pivotal skills for festival attendees. At Noon, LI-DOG will host a Pet Costume Parade and there will be raffles to help raise money for the dog park. Doggie goodies from sponsors Zara’s Deli, Long Island Canine Class, and Deb’s Healthy Pet Center will be provided to canine event attendees.
The Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter will have adoptable dogs looking for forever homes and the Mutt Club of the Middle Country Library will be collecting donations of dog and cat items for the Middle Country Pet Pantry.

Even our canine friends love a good Halloween party, and Nassau Barkfest is guaranteed to be spook-tacular fun for both dogs and people! Dress up your furry friend in his or her Halloween finest — pretty, silly, scary or downright ghostly — and join the parade. Costume judging will begin at 2:30 pm and prizes will be awarded. LI-DOG, rescue groups and other animal-friendly organizations will be there to help celebrate. All pets must be on a leash.
Sponsored by the Nassau County SPCA and Long Island’s K98.3 radio station, admission to Nassau Barkfest is FREE, but all participants are asked to bring a donation of pet food for families who are facing difficult financial times and need help feeding their pets.
