LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Southards Pond Park
Sat., Sept. 28th, 10:30AM – 12:30PM
Southards Pond, Babylon, NY
Please join LI-DOG for a Pack Walk™ at Southards Pond Park in Babylon. The park covers acres of forests, has lovely streams, and a beautiful pond plus its full of friendly people and their four legged companions. We’ll meet at the southern end of the park near Park Avenue.
On our September 2019 LI-DOG Pack Walk™ —a guided group on-leash dog walk– we’ll be walking most of the Southards Pond Loop Trail—a broad, flat trail that can easily accommodate a group walk and that will have nice views of Southards Pond. The Pack Walk™ will take one to 1-1/2 hours. For those wishing to extend the walk, we can also include the Argyle Lake Trail, which is just south of Southards Pond. You can also linger after the Pack Walk as there are plenty of nice places in the park to hang out with your dog and other people from the walk.
Please be aware that dogs are not allowed in the picnic nor playground areas of the park. Also, because of harmful algae blooms, DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DOG TO GO INTO THE WATER! The park is nestled between two neighborhoods so be considerate of the local residents by minimizing noise levels and keeping the area clean. There are no trash receptacles along the walk, but there are one or two on the bridge by the pond.
Dogs must be kept on leash while in the park. Also, please no retractable leashes as we’ll be walking in a group and people and dogs can get easily tangled.
Plenty of parking is available at Babylon Memorial Grade School next to the park. There is a bridge that connects the school parking lot with the park. We will be on the park side of the bridge.
WEATHER RELATED CHANGES: Please check our Meetup or Facebook group or our website on Sat. morning around 8:30 a.m. for any weather-related notices. If there is no notice, the Pack Walk is on!
We look forward to seeing you and your dogs on Sept 28th for our LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Southards Pond Park!
