Southards Pond Park

Please join LI-DOG for a Pack Walk™ at Southards Pond Park in Babylon. The park covers multiple acres of forested beauty, it’s full of friendly people and their four legged companions, and the trails are flat and easy.

Our September 2018 LI-DOG Pack Walk™ —a guided group on-leash dog walk–will follow the Southards Pond Park Loop trail, a 1.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail. We’ll walk through the woods to the southern bank of the pond, and then walk along the pond and again enter the woods to return. Because of the Harmful Algal Blooms DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DOG TO GO IN THE WATER!

This Pack Walk will take one to 1-1/2 hours. Plus, feel free to linger after the Pack Walk as there are plenty of nice places in the park to hang out with your dog and other people from the walk. Dogs are NOT allowed in the picnic and playground areas of the park. The park is nestled between two neighborhoods so be considerate of the residents by minimizing the noise level and keeping the area clean. There are no trash receptacles along the walk, but there are one or two on the bridge by the pond.

DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES WHILE IN THE PARK. Also, please no retractable leashes as we’ll be walking in a group and people and dogs can get easily tangled.

WEATHER RELATED CHANGES: Please check our Meetup or Facebook Group or our website on Sat. morning around 8:30 a.m. for any weather-related notices. If there is no notice, the Pack Walk is on!

PARKING: Park at Babylon Memorial Grade School on Park Ave. and walk across the bridge that connects the parking lot to the park. We will be on the park side of the bridge.
