Parker is a 7-year old deaf/blind double dilute rough collie (a product of careless merle-to-merle breeding where approximately 25% of the puppies are born mostly white and deaf and/or blind). Originally from a hoarder in Yaphank where he was living with 53 other dogs, as well as birds and farm animals, Parker was rescued by the Suffolk SPCA and Second Chance Wildlife Rescue in Farmingville in June 2010. I adopted him in July 2011. Since then Parker has become a therapy dog with Paws for Friendship where he visits United Cerebral Palsy in Commack and Sunrise Assisted Living in Glen Cove. He also is being trained in nosework with Blue Ribbon Dog Training School in Bohemia. Even as a deaf/blind dog, Parker is living life to the fullest and shows that one does not have to hear or see to be successful!
