A dog park within the Town of Oyster Bay is within reach, but WE NEED YOUR HELP to make it happen!
Almost 2 years ago, LI-DOG supporters told the Town of Oyster Bay that they wanted to see a dog park created with money from the SEA Fund III environmental bond. As a result, the Town has been actively searching for a location and looking to other municipalities to see what works for them in terms of size, park rules, etc. However, as we approach another Spring, we want to remind the Town (and give them a little nudge) that our members are still looking forward to the day when they can socialize with their dog loving neighbors and their canine companions in one of the Town's parks.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: If you live in the Town of Oyster Bay, email or write a letter to the Town Supervisor and Council members and let them know that you are anxiously awaiting the Town's first dog park! To read a great sample letter written by one of our supporters, click here. You can print it out and send it or copy and paste it in an email. If you want to keep it simple, just send a letter saying, “I would like a dog park in my Town.”
The mailing address is Supervisor John Venditto and Oyster Bay Town Board, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY 11771. You can send an email by going to the town's website at www.oysterbaytown.com and clicking on the "contact us" tab on the bottom of the left hand side of the page.
Also, help us get signatures on a petition that we will present to the Town Board in the next few weeks. Click here to get the petition. Once you’ve gotten all your friends and neighbors to sign, you can send it back to us at LI-DOG, P.O. Box 1171, Huntington, NY 11743.
Remember, as with everything else, there is only so much money and space to go around so the more people who contact the Town, in support of a dog park the better (even if you wrote once before in 2008)!
As always, keep in touch by e-mailing us at lidog_news@yahoo.com.
