Help Finally Get The Dog Park at Eisenhower Park Open!

After almost 1,300 people hand-signed a petition and many more sent e-mails in support of a dog park at Eisenhower Park, Parks Commissioner Jose Lopez agreed in 2008 to have one built. Later that year, however, the plans were put on hold due to budget problems. In October 2009, Mr. Lopez once again announced that the park would open--in the spring of 2010. However, since then, a new Parks Commissioner has been appointed and we have not heard any news about the proposed dog park. We fear the project may be stalled again or worse yet cancelled.

It is critical that dog owners e-mail Nassau County’s new Parks Commissioner Carnell Foskey at cfoskey@nassaucountyny.gov in support of the proposed dog park at Eisenhower Park. Your e-mail doesn't have to be long; even a sentence or two about what the park would mean to you and your dog(s) or even questions about when it's going to open and how big it will be, will be very effective in letting him know that we as dog owners (& tax payers!) have been waiting for this park for a long time. If you prefer, you can call his office at (516) 572-0272. The more e-mails and calls he gets, the better our chances of seeing the park actually open this year!
