A public hearing on Coindre Hall off-leash activities will be held Thurs., Nov. 20th at 10 o'clock in the morning at Coindre Hall before the Suffolk County Parks Board of Trustees. The purpose of the hearing is for the Trustees to decide whether they will recommend to the Parks Dept. LI-DOG's proposal to create an off-leash program at Coindre Hall. (To read a summary of LI-DOG's proposal, click here. To read a full explanation, click here.)
It is critical that we convince the Trustees and the Parks Dept. that LI-DOG’s proposal for Coindre Hall is a fair and workable solution. If the proposal is not adopted, dog owners face two alternatives:
- $50 summonses and Parks Police enforcement for being off-leash at Coindre Hall
- A fenced dog run in what one former Parks Commissioner called the "armpit" of the property.
WHAT DOG OWNERS NEED TO DO:
- Put Thurs., Nov. 20th, 10 a.m. at Coindre Hall on your calendar now! It is critical that dog owners come to the hearing and show their support for our continued use of the park.
- Help LI-DOG spread the word by handing out flyers. Email us at lidog_news@yahoo.com or meet us at the park, if you can help.
- Come to the Nov. 13th LI-DOG Meeting at the Huntington Public Library in Huntington Village. This will likely be our most important meeting of the year. Please BRING A FRIEND, share ideas, and help SAVE OUR PARK! The meeting will run from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. For more details, click here.
- As always, keep the park clean and make sure the park operates smoothly. Please keep dogs under voice control, avoid excessive barking, and respect other park users.
Thank you for your support!
As always, keep in touch by e-mailing us at lidog_news@yahoo.com.
