Dog Parks and On-Leash Dog Walking Trails Around Long Island

Grab some friends…grab some bags and join LI-DOG’s Project P.U.P. (Pick Up the Poop) Spring Clean Up Event—on Saturday morning, April 29th!

Help provide our wonderful dog parks with some T.L.C and let everyone know how much we value our beautiful dog-friendly areas.

How can cleaning up dog parks be fun? It’s easy with these few simple steps:

The park will be spotless in no time and everyone, including the dogs, will thank you.

Before you let your dogs play and enjoy the results of your efforts, take a group photo to showcase your hard work and everyone who participated.  Post your photo to the LI-DOG Facebook Group and/or to Instagram with #ProjectPUP!

Bundle of Brightly Colored LI-DOG LeashesPrizes–beautiful 5′ leashes with metal clasps and LI-DOG’s name on them and high quality, individually-wrapped doggy treats–will be awarded to the dog park groups with the largest number of participants!

** Many thanks to original LI-DOG Board Member and longtime supporter Barbara Mitchell for donating the prizes in celebration of her family’s newly minted Canine Good Citizen Team Zach and “Natty” and the entire April 2017 CERTIFIED CGC Class of Instructor/Evaluator Virginia Westfield-Slowik at Suffolk Obedience Training Club! **

LI-DOG cordially invites our canine families to LI-DOG’s Pack WalkTM at Old Westbury Gardens during the OWG Spring Dog Festival! On Saturday, April 22nd at 12:00 p.m. (11:30 a.m. free registration), we will spend a delightful hour on a guided tour of the beautiful, English-themed splendor of Old Westbury Gardens. There’ll be plenty of spring’s budding horticultural treasures for our eyes and our fur babies’ noses to enjoy!

The Walk is almost all on flat ground and there are opportunities to shorten the walk for those who wish to do so. Make sure to bring poop bags–as clean-up is a must!–and bring your camera as there are many beautiful photo opportunities on the grounds.

Registrants for the Pack Walk will have the opportunity to donate $5 to LI-DOG for a chance to win a raffle basket full of doggie toys and treats. If you double your donation, you (more than) double your chances to win as a $10 donation gets four tickets! All proceeds support LI-DOG’s work to gain more access to public parks and beaches for Long Island dog owners and their dogs.

Make sure to stick around after the Pack Walk and enjoy the Old Westbury Gardens Spring Dog Festival with booths and exhibits from rescues, animal advocacy organizations including LI-DOG, and vendors of doggie goodies and gear. OWG’s Spring Dog Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat. only.

On both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., enjoy Spring Dog Days at Old Westbury Gardens when the Gardens invites on-leash dogs and their people to enjoy the grounds of the estate. On Sunday, the United Kennel Club will be hosting an all-breed conformation match from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Dogs must be on-leash at all times when visiting the gardens and are not allowed in any buildings on the grounds.

OWG admission fees are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors (62 and over) and $7 children ages 7-17. OWG members, children under 6, and four-legged visitors are free!

Tues., May 16th, 6:35 p.m (gates open at 5:30)
Bethpage Ballpark, 3 Court House Dr., Central Islip, NY 11722 (Google Map)

Enjoy America’s favorite past time with Fido at your side (or on your lap!) at Bark in the Park with LI-DOG on Tues., May 16th at Bethpage Ballpark in Central Islip. You and your fur baby can cheer on our hometown favorites, the Long Island Ducks, as they play their cross-LI Sound rivals, York Revolution, all while helping support LI-DOG!

Come early for group photos (gates open at 5:30), but if Fido is still embarrassed about his last haircut, then just be sure to come by 6:15.

Our deadline for orders is Fri., April. 14th. Tickets are $15 per person** plus $5 for a Pooch Pass for your pup! All proceeds benefit LI-DOG’s work to get more access to parks and beaches for Long Island dog owners and their dogs. Please note: Tickets are non-refundable.

**If you have a big dog, you might consider buying a $15 ticket for your dog (in addition to your own $15 ticket), so he or she can sit in a seat space. There’s no need to buy a Pooch Pass if you buy a $15 ticket for your dog. The $5 Pooch Pass allows your dog to sit next to you in your seat space.

Again, the deadline for ticket orders is Fri., April 14th!

Please only bring well socialized dogs to this event. LI DOG will bring extra poop bags and water, but please remember these items.
